The Robert Cameron Law Cycling Series is one of the most prestigious competitive cycling racing events in Western Canada with over 5000 spectators in attendance and 300+ athletes competing. The event is the continuation of over 20 years of hosting bicycle race events in Victoria, BC. Since 1992, Victoria has hosted the 1994 Commonwealth Games Cycling events, World Cup Track, Provincial Road and Track Championships, and the Bastion Square Grand Prix, which has spearheaded the carriers of some of Canada’s best cyclists such as Roland Green, Alison Sydor, Brian Walton, Andreas Hestler, Erinne Willock, Rob Britton, Nic Hamilton, Gillian Carlton, Annie Ewart, and Ryder Hesjedal. The Mid Island Velo Association grew out of the OBB Wheelers – Nanaimo -series of week night races run since 2008 by ex– Brits, Dave Kenny and Peter McCaffery. Over eighty riders took part in these well organised events and at the end of the 2010 season, Aussie import, Tony Winter, and local triathlete and avid road cyclist Iain Hay, got together with Peter and Dave to discuss forming a new club that would unite cyclists from various small interest groups to form a club that would better serve the interests of road racing in the mid Vancouver Island region. Cameron Law Corporation is proud to be a sponsor of the Russ Hay’s Accent Inns Cycling Team (RHAI), a non-profit organization part of The Russ Hay’s Racing Cycle Club Society (RHRCCS) established to grow and develop competitive cycling in British Columbia. They are a volunteer run organization that depends solely on the assistance of sponsors to support the team. Their team consists of elite and development riders with a primary focus on road races, criteriums, and time trials. A number of their racers also compete in cyclocross as well. All of their team members are required to be licensed members of Cycling BC and sign a yearly rider’s agreement.
